Dr. Jacob Shipton joined Eyecare Associates of Idaho in June 2021 with a passion for combining advanced technology, innovative treatment options, and personalized care to help patients enjoy clearer, more comfortable vision. He believes the best eye care comes from understanding each patient's unique needs and using the latest advancements in optometry to provide the highest level of care.
Education & Professional Background
Dr. Shipton earned his Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from Brigham Young University before receiving his Doctor of Optometry degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2021.
During his clinical training, he completed medical rotations at several leading eye care centers in Columbus, Ohio, including Columbus Ophthalmology Associates, where he worked alongside experienced ophthalmologists managing patients with glaucoma, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, cataracts, and other complex eye conditions.

He has extensive experience fitting specialty contact lenses, including scleral, rigid gas-permeable, toric, and multifocal lenses. He also enjoys helping children through myopia management, using specialized contact lenses to help slow the progression of nearsightedness.

Dr. Shipton enjoys staying at the forefront of modern optometry through continuing education and emerging technology. As a member of the American Optometric Association and the Idaho Optometric Physicians Association, he remains committed to bringing the latest advancements in eye care to his patients.
His passion for innovation was recognized while attending The Ohio State University College of Optometry, where he received the 2021 Rick Bay Innovation Scholarship for his forward-thinking approach to patient care.
One of his favorite parts of practicing at Eyecare Associates of Idaho is having access to advanced diagnostic technology that helps patients see more clearly and comfortably.
Life Outside the Office
Outside the office, Dr. Shipton enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelsey, and their two children, Harper and Ezra. As a family, they enjoy spending time outdoors, visiting local parks, and playing sports together.
When he has free time, Dr. Shipton also enjoys disc golf, woodworking, metalworking, exercising, listening to podcasts, and exploring local restaurants, including favorites like Holy Cow and Messengers Pizza.
