Dry, irritated eyes can make even the simplest daily activities uncomfortable. At Eyecare Associates of Idaho, we look beyond temporary relief to identify the underlying cause of your condition, allowing us to recommend treatments that are tailored to your eyes, lifestyle, and long-term eye health.
Treating Dry Eye for Treasure Valley Residents
What is Dry Eye Disease?
Dry eye is a common eye condition that occurs when your eyes don't produce enough healthy tears or when your tears evaporate too quickly. Since your tear film helps keep your eyes lubricated, comfortable, and protected, even small changes can lead to burning, stinging, redness, blurred vision, excessive tearing, or a gritty sensation.
Because dry eye has many possible causes, there's no one-size-fits-all solution. Finding the source of your symptoms allows our optometrists to recommend treatments that provide meaningful, long-term relief rather than simply masking discomfort.
No matter where you are in the Treasure Valley, our team is committed to providing the same personalized care, trusted guidance, and advanced eye care that generations of local families have come to expect.
Our optometrists combine advanced clinical expertise with a patient-first approach, taking the time to understand your concerns and recommend care that's right for you. Get to know our team.
Start With a Dry Eye Evaluation
Every patient experiences dry eye differently, which is why every evaluation begins with a conversation. We'll discuss your symptoms, medical history, daily activities, and any environmental or lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your discomfort.
During your evaluation, our eye doctors will assess the health of your eyes, the quality of your tear film, and the function of your oil-producing meibomian glands.
LipiScan® uses advanced meibography imaging to capture detailed pictures of your meibomian glands, the tiny oil glands that help keep your eyes comfortably lubricated. By evaluating the health and function of these glands, we can identify one of the most common causes of dry eye: Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.

Dry Eye Treatments We Offer
Your treatment plan will depend on the underlying cause and severity of your dry eye. Our goal is to improve your comfort, protect your eye health, and help you enjoy clearer, more comfortable vision.
LipiFlow® Treatment
LipiFlow® is an advanced in-office treatment for meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). The treatment uses gentle heat and therapeutic pressure to clear blocked oil glands in your eyelids, helping restore the healthy oils that stabilize your tear film and reduce tear evaporation. This treatment is exclusively available at Eyecare Associates of Nampa's Dry Eye Center.
Additional Treatment Options
The following is available at all Eyecare Associates of Idaho locations.
Artificial tears can help supplement your natural tear film, providing relief from dryness, irritation, and fluctuating vision. We'll recommend products based on your specific symptoms and the underlying cause of your dry eye.
Warm compress therapy gently warms the eyelids, softening and loosening blockages in the meibomian glands. Regular heat therapy can improve the flow of healthy oils into your tear film, reducing evaporation and supporting long-term eye comfort.
Punctal plugs are tiny, biocompatible devices placed in your tear ducts to help your natural tears stay on the surface of your eyes longer. This simple in-office treatment can improve eye lubrication and provide lasting relief for some patients with dry eye.
Healthy tears start from within. Nutritional supplements, including omega-3 fatty acids and eye health formulations, may help support tear quality and reduce inflammation associated with dry eye. We'll recommend products based on your needs and treatment plan.
Small changes to your daily routine can make a meaningful difference in managing dry eye symptoms. We'll provide personalized recommendations based on your lifestyle, which may include improving screen habits, adjusting your environment, practicing eyelid hygiene, and using products that support healthier eyes.
