Specialty Contact Lenses in Nampa, Boise, & Kuna

If traditional contact lenses haven't been comfortable or you've been told you're not a good candidate for contacts, you may have more options than you realize. Our eye doctors provide specialty contact lens evaluations to help you find lenses that support your vision and long-term eye health.

Every Pair of Eyes Is Different

What Are Specialty Contact Lenses?

Specialty contact lenses are custom-designed for eyes that require more than a standard soft lens can provide. They can help improve vision, increase comfort, and provide solutions for patients with irregular corneas, certain eye conditions, or complex prescriptions.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, specialty contact lenses are selected based on the unique shape of your eyes, your visual needs, and your lifestyle. Our Nampa, Boise, and Kuna optometrists aim to find a solution that allows you to see clearly and wear your lenses comfortably throughout the day.

Specialty Contact Lens Exams

Finding the right specialty contact lens begins with understanding your eyes. During your contact lens exam, we'll perform a comprehensive evaluation, take measurements of your eyes, and discuss your vision goals, lifestyle, and any challenges you've experienced with previous contact lenses.

Because specialty lenses are customized to each patient, achieving the ideal fit may require additional follow-up visits and adjustments. Throughout the process, our team will work closely with you to ensure your lenses deliver optimal comfort and vision.

Specialty Contact Lens Options

Scleral Lenses

Scleral lenses rest on the white part of the eye, creating a smooth optical surface while holding a reservoir of moisture. They're ideal for patients with keratoconus, severe dry eye, or irregular corneas.

Hybrid Contact Lenses

Hybrid lenses combine the clear vision of a rigid center with the comfort of a soft outer skirt, offering an excellent option for patients who need sharper vision without sacrificing comfort.

Rigid Gas-Permeable (RGP) Lenses

These hard lenses provide crisp, stable vision and may be recommended for patients whose vision can't be fully corrected with soft lenses. Their durable design allows for excellent oxygen transmission.

Keratoconus & Corneal Ectasia Lenses

Patients with keratoconus or corneal ectasia often benefit from specialty lens designs that create a smooth optical surface, improving vision while fitting comfortably over the cornea's irregular shape.

MiSight® Myopia Lenses

MiSight® daily disposable contact lenses are designed for children with myopia. In addition to correcting vision, they're designed to help slow the progression of nearsightedness as children's eyes continue to grow.

Post-LASIK Lenses

Some patients continue experiencing visual discomfort following refractive surgery. Specialty contact lenses can often improve vision and comfort by addressing irregularities on the corneal surface.
