A proper contact lens fit helps ensure your lenses are comfortable, provide clear vision, and support long-term eye health. Our eye doctors in Nampa, Boise, and Kuna take the time to understand your vision needs, lifestyle, and eye health before recommending contact lenses.
Contact Lens Exams & Fittings in The Treasure Valley
Why Do You Need a Contact Lens Exam?
While your routine eye exam is an important starting point, it isn't the same as a contact lens exam. Because contact lenses rest directly on the surface of your eyes, they require additional measurements to ensure a comfortable fit.
During your contact lens exam, we evaluate the shape of your cornea, the quality of your tear film, and how your lenses fit and move on your eyes. These additional measurements help us recommend lenses that provide clear vision while supporting your long-term eye health and comfort.
No matter where you are in the Treasure Valley, our team is committed to providing the same personalized care, trusted guidance, and advanced eye care that generations of local families have come to expect.
Our optometrists combine advanced clinical expertise with a patient-first approach, taking the time to understand your concerns and recommend care that's right for you. Get to know our team.
What Happens During a Contact Lens Exam?
Whether you're wearing contact lenses for the first time or have worn them for years, a contact lens exam helps ensure your lenses continue to meet your vision and eye health needs.
Your appointment may include:
- Reviewing your vision needs and lifestyle.
- Updating your vision prescription.
- Measuring the shape and surface of your eyes.
- Evaluating your tear film and eye health.
- Selecting trial lenses when appropriate.
- Assessing comfort, vision, and lens movement.
- Providing guidance on proper insertion, removal, and lens care.

New to Contact Lenses?
For first-time wearers, we'll guide you through every step of the process, from selecting the right lenses to inserting, removing, cleaning, and caring for them. During your annual evaluation, we'll confirm that your prescription remains accurate, assess the fit of your lenses, and make recommendations based on any changes to your vision or eye health.
Not everyone's eyes are suited for traditional contact lenses. If you have dry eyes, keratoconus, irregular corneas, or another condition that makes standard lenses uncomfortable, specialty contact lenses may provide a better solution.
We offer specialty contact lens consultations at Eyecare Associates of Kuna, Eyecare Associates of Nampa, and Eyecare Associates of Boise. Specialty contact lens consultations are not currently available at the Community Eye Clinic.
